Choosing a water bottle

Are you tired of constantly dealing with leaking bottles with bad silicone stoppers? The correct drinking regime is very important, that is why a drinking bottle is one of the basic necessities of school equipment for first-graders.

Although choosing a kids bottle seems very simple, the opposite is true. Therefore, we have put together a few basic advices that you should pay attention to when buying a water bottle, whether it is a bottle for children, for sports, for work or for school.

If the water bottle meets the mentioned points, it will be the most suitable choice - just like all our Ars Una water bottles. But of course, this is not enough for the curious and they want to know the answers to the following questions that they seem to be asking themselves now.

What exactly is BPA and why is it dangerous for us?
BPA is an industrial chemical substance, also known as Bisphenol A. It is used in the production of artificial materials (e.g. CDs and DVDs, plastic cutlery, food cans, sports equipment and others). It is highly harmful to health, as it acts as a reproductive toxicant. This means that it has a negative effect on the ability of reproduction in humans. Possible consequences include endangering the development of fetuses and babies, increasing the risk of cancer (BPA suppresses DNA methylation), and the spread of civilizational diseases.

Which production materials do we not have to worry about?
There are very few materials that are ecological and harmless to health. On the market, we can find metal, plastic and glass bottles. But taking heavy glass or metal with you to school or work is not exactly an ideal solution. Especially for children, the weight of the bottle itself is very important, so every extra gram of weight counts. If we are looking for a light plastic bottle without BPA substances, these are, for example, bottles made of polypropylene or high-quality Eastman Tritan, which is obtained from a plant source through recycled processes. And that is exactly what is used for all our Ars Una bottles! It is very light, never smells of liquid and is easy to wash.

What is the appropriate bottle volume?
The answer to this question is not definite. We have to ask ourselves: "Where and for how long are we going to need the bottle?". If the bottle is intended for children in the primary or lower secondary school, where they spend about 5-6 hours a day, a capacity of around 500 ml will suffice. But if we are choosing a bottle for a student or teenager who stays at school for a longer period of time and possibly plays some sports afterwards, the volume should be closer to 500-650 ml. On the other hand, for occasional trips or as a small companion during the day, the volume of 350 ml is certainly plenty.

What is the CLICK system?
The principle of opening and closing the lid is often a matter of several tens of seconds. And who would want to spend a long time complicatedly screwing the lid when you just want to have a quick drink. That's why we used the Click security system - press the button and click back. It is the easiest way to open and close the water bottle easily. If you still can't grasp how the system works, just watch our videos of kids and ergonomic water bottles, where everything is shown and described in detail.

Does the surface or shape of the bottle also matter?
Of course it does. If the surface was too slippery and the filled water bottle would slip in the hands, it could easily fall to the ground. If you are afraid of such problems, we have designed the most reliable water bottle models for you. These are ergonomic water bottles shaped right in the hand, enhanced with a matte finish that could prevent a fall. In the case of kids bottles, this risk is reduced thanks to a high-quality print that works on the same principle as a matte surface. And if the bottle were to fall, the material is durable enough that nothing will happen to the bottle.

How to properly care for a water bottle?
It is important to keep the bottle clean and wash it carefully after drinking. Not all Ars Una bottles are dishwasher and microwave safe (the recycled Tritan plastic material, obtained from plant sources, is not resistant to high temperatures). We simply unscrew the lid - this divides the bottle into two parts - and then rinse them individually with lukewarm water. If you give the bottle a little attention every once in a while, it will repay you by staying with you for a long time. Although the bottles have a really durable silicone stopper, there is no harm in buying a spare silicone stopper to go with it.
